Google Updates Search Algorithm – Is it good or bad?

from google.comSo with the announcement of Google’s search algorithm update comes good news and bad news. You see, the change currently affects different sites in different ways.

The decision is supposed to benefit sites with good original content. Webmasters with sites that offer what Google considers to be “quality”, original content are supposedly going to benefit from this. Google’s aim is to cut down on what some call “content mills”. These are sites that hoard content to be optimized for the older algorithm, which would have placed them on the top of the results.

This is important because the top position usually averages around 25-35% of the click ratio compared to the other nine results. When sites like these are knocked off the top spot, their traffic drops like a rock. The second place click ratio is much lower, at fewer than 15%.
